Prairie Fest is the largest fundraising effort for the district.
In recent years, Prairie Fest has raised over $60,000 annually to support the students and programs of our Prairie Schools. Prairie Fest is the Prairie School Foundation's signature event. The Prairie Fest Committee, selected from among the foundation board, chooses a theme for the event. Our guests, almost 500 of them, are encouraged, but not required, to dress-up accordingly. Prairie Fest has four corporate sponsors with an additional 15 businesses sponsoring corporate tables.
The doors open at 4:30pm when the participants can register, enjoy a complimentary beverage, catch-up with friends and view the hundreds of silent and live-auction items donated by local businesses, merchants and individuals. The committee initiated the use of a cell phone-based bidding system for Prairie Fest beginning in 2017. The system allows bidders to follow the silent auction from virtually any location. They can bookmark items of special interest and bid remotely on those items. Dinner is served at 6:15pm and a very brief program is usually incorporated into the dining hour. A live auction is held once dessert has been enjoyed by the participants.
There are many unique items sold during the live auction including:
Prairie School Campus Street Signs (Each winning bidder can personalize their street sign with their business name or perhaps the names of their Prairie Students).
Sideline passes to Prairie Varsity Football games.
A lifetime family activity pass for all Prairie-sponsored activities.
Premium seating for Prairie graduations offering 10 reserved seats with the best views and vantage points for pictures of the graduates.
There are always a variety of other auction items including dinner prepared in your home by a professional chef, top quality bicycles, vacation packages, hotel suites, date night packages and many more opportunities.
Raffles have long been a Prairie Fest tradition. In 2018, the foundation raffled 100 bottles of wine donated by board members and divided among three winners. We also raffled a $500 gift card donated by Scheels.
